DEAD SPACE presents: Fast Relief by Lacey Carter

I am lining up some good artists for the next installments of Food for Thoughts. In the mean time, we have a show opening at the gallery I run, DEAD SPACE. Hope to see you there.

Snake eyes. Free throw. Guitar solo. Pee Wee Herman and Claes Oldenburg shoot hoops after Garage Band practice. Locked inside Dead Space, Lacey Carter, has been living, breathing and shitting this ball pit of work for the past four weeks. Your fantasy wreck room has been installed inside the gallery. Grab the hot pink guitar, or play a game of big fat dice. Look up ↑ – each ceiling tile is from last week's Pictionary game.

Carter embraces play, memory and association to hustle her way through the automatic process of compulsive production.

Lacey Carter is an LA artist and set designer living in Denver. Fast Relief is made up of things found from scavenging the city and leftover movie sets which she combines with her own paintings, drawings and specifically fabricated furniture. The entire process has been collaborative with her gang of brilliant friends comprised of architects, designers, craftsman and hooligans.
